ASSOCIATED RESEARCH 7650 5 kVAC/DC HypotULTRA III Hipot tester, Insulation Resistance

The Associated Research 7650 HypotULTRA III is a 5 kVAC / 5kVDC Hipot tester with a built-in Insulation Resistance and Continuity Tester. It can perform a low current continuity test simultaneously with the Hipot test, or use the separate continuity test mode to perform an independent continuity test. In this mode, the range is adjustable from 0.01 to 10 ohms. In addition, point-to-point continuity test can be run through the optional built-in scanner. The AR 7650 has up to 30mA of current is available in AC Hipot mode and 10 mA in DC Hipot mode with resolutions of 1 microamps in AC and 0.1 microamps in DC. The Insulation Resistance measurement range of the HypotULTRA III allows for measurements up to 50 Gigohms. It has an enhanced graphic LCD display with analog bar graph for monitoring test results. Specifications. Dielectric Withstand Test Mode Output Rating: 5000 V @ 30 mA AC, 5000 V @ 10 mA DC. Output Adjustment Range: 0 - 5.00 KV AC, 0 - 5.00 KV DC. Voltage Setting Resolution: 1 V. Voltage Setting Accuracy: ± (2% of setting + 5 V) (Adjustable during operation. Disabled when key lockout is active). Maximum Limit AC Range: 0.00 - 9.999 mA, Resolution 0.001 mA. Maximum Limit DC Range: 0.00 - 999.9 µA, Resolution 0.1 µA. Arc Detection Range: 1 – 9. AC Voltage Waveform: Sine Wave, Crest Factor = 1.3 - 1.5. Output Frequency Range: 50 or 60 Hz, User Selectable. Ground Continuity Current: DC 0.1 A ± 0.01 A (Total Resistance 0.00 ohm - 33.0 ohm), DC 0.01 A ± 0.001 A (Total Resistance 31.0 ohm - 330 ohm), DC 0.001 A ± 0.0001 A (Total Resistance 310 ohm - 2000 ohm). Insulation Resistance Test Mode Output Voltage Range: 50 - 1000 VDC, Resolution 1 Volt, Accuracy ± (2% of setting + 2 V). Resistance Display Range: 0.05 M-ohm – 50,000 M-ohm (5 Digit, Auto Ranging). Average Power
Average power means that the energy transfer rate is to be averaged over many periods of the lowest frequency involved. For a CW signal, the lowest frequency and highest frequency are the same, so average power and power are the same. For an amplitude modulated wave, the power must be averaged over many periods of the modulation component of the signal as well.

Dynamic range
Dynamic range the ratio of a specified maximum level of a parameter, such as power, current, voltage or frequency, to the minimum detectable value of that parameter.

Modulation is the process by which the characteristic of one wave (the carrier) is modified by another.

Repeatability is the variation in a number of repeated measured quantities when measurement conditions are changed and restored. The value corresponds to half the spread between the minimum and maximum value measured.
