   AEROFLEX-IFR 3414   Description / Specification:
AEROFLEX-IFR 3414 Digital RF Signal Generator

The IFR 3414 is an Agile Signal Generator with high quality analog and vector modulation capabilities. Careful attention to the design of the modulators and the RF system ensures that this signal generator exhibits low levels of adjacent channel power, making it suitable for the most demanding amplifier linearity and receiver selectivity measurements. The use of Aeroflex fractional N synthesis techniques, combined with fast level control and an electronic attenuator, ensures the 3414 signal generator is both frequency and level agile for high speed ATE testing. The 3414 has excellent performance with typically 1.5 Hz residual FM at 1 GHz and a floor noise of typically better than -148 dBc / Hz. Carrier Frequency Range: 250 kHz - 4 GHz. Resolution: 1 Hz, accuracy as frequency standard The carrier output phase can be advanced or retarded in increments of 0.036°. RF Output Range (Max): -140 to +16 dBm (Electronic Attenuator), -140 to +19 dBm (Mechanical Attenuator), 0 to +20 dBm ( No Attenuator). Resolution: 0.01 dB. Harmonics: <-30 dBc, typically <-40 dBc for output levels <=+7 dBm. Attenuator Options. Option 001: No attenuator. Option 003: Electronic attenuator. Option 005: ARB waveform generator (Not available with Option 008). Option 006: Pulse Modulation (Requires Option 003, not available with Option 009). Option 007: Rear panel outputs (RF Output only with Option 009). Option 008 ; Real Time Baseband (Not available with Option 005 or 009). Option 009: Differential I/Q output (Requires Option 005, not available with Option 006). Option 010: List Mode (Requires Option 003).

Crest Factor
Crest factor or peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is a measurement of a waveform, calculated from the peak amplitude of the waveform divided by the RMS value of the waveform

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
