   ADVANTEST R3131   Description / Specification:
ADVANTEST R3131 3 GHz Spectrum Analyzer, 50 ohm

The Advantest R3131 Spectrum Analyzer is basically designed with a panel size assuming rack-mount use. The operation key layout is a simple, easy to use design which accommodates system use and personal use. The measurement time of measuring instruments and the time required for data transmission have a large effect on the throughput of production and adjustment lines. The R3131 employs newly developed internal processing technology to reduce the time required for GPIB control or data transmission to almost half compared with conventional Advantest products. In addition, by reducing the local oscillator settling time, the speed of rewriting waveform data has been almost doubled at maximum in terms of unit time. Specifications. Frequency range: 9 kHz to 3 GHz. Reading accuracy: ± (Frequency reading × Frequency reference accuracy + Span × Span accuracy + 0.15 × Resolution bandwidth + 1 kHz). Marker counter accuracy: ± (Marker frequency × Frequency reference accuracy + 1 LSD) (S/N >= 25 dB, Span <= 200 MHz). Marker counter resolution: 1 Hz to 1 kHz. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Average Power
Average power means that the energy transfer rate is to be averaged over many periods of the lowest frequency involved. For a CW signal, the lowest frequency and highest frequency are the same, so average power and power are the same. For an amplitude modulated wave, the power must be averaged over many periods of the modulation component of the signal as well.

Harmonic
A harmonic of a wave is a component frequency of the signal that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, i.e. if the fundamental frequency is f, the harmonics have frequencies 2f, 3f, 4f, . . . etc.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.
