   KEITHLEY 197A   Description / Specification:
KEITHLEY 197A Autoranging Microvolt Digital Multimeter

The Keithley 197A is a lightweight, portable DMM with a battery pack option. It combines 5 1/2-digit resolution (on a 220,000-count display) with 1µV, 1nA, 1m-ohm sensitivity. Basic DCV accuracy is 0.011%. Extended Performance Measure voltage over nine decades from 1µV to 1000V. Input resistance on the two lowest voltage ranges exceeds 1G-ohm. TRMS AC measurements can be made to 100kHz. Make 2- or 4-terminal ohms measurements over 11 decades from 1m-ohm to 220M-ohm. Six current ranges measure from 1nA to 10A. Battery Option The 1978 battery pack option enables data to be collected in locations where AC power is not available or where isolation from line voltage is required for safety. Relative: Pushbutton allows zeroing of on range readings. Allows readings to be made with respect to baseline value. Front panel annunciator indicates REL mode. Data Loggerand Min/Max: 100 reading storage capacity; records data at one of six selectable rates from 3 readings/second to 1 reading/hour or by manual triggering. Also detects and stores maximum and minimum readings continuously while in data logger mode. Specifications. DC Volts: range 200 mV, resolution 1 µV; range 2 V, resolution 10 µV; range 20 V, resolution 100 µV; range 200 V, resolution 1 mV; range 1000 V, resolution 10 mV. TRMS AC Volts: range 200 mV, 2V–200V, 750V. Ohms ranges: 200 ohm, 2 k-ohm, 20 k-ohm, 200 k-ohm, 2 M-ohm, 20 M-ohm, 200 M-ohm.

*This is a Web introductory price for one calibration of the KEITHLEY 197A. Price does not in most cases include measurement performance data. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Channel Bandwidth
Channel Bandwidth is the bandwidth over which power is measured. This is usually the bandwidth in which almost all of the power of a signal is contained.

Jitter
Jitter in technical terms is the deviation in or displacement of some aspect of the pulses in a high-frequency digital signal. Jitter is the time variation of a periodic signal in electronics and telecommunications, often in relation to a reference clock source. Jitter may be observed in characteristics such as the frequency of successive pulses, the signal amplitude, or phase of periodic signals. Jitter is a significant, and usually undesired, factor in the design of almost all communications links (e.g., USB, PCI-e, SATA, OC-48). In clock recovery applications it is called timing jitter.

Overshoot
Overshoot is the distortion that follows a major transition; the difference between the peak power point and the pulse-top amplitude computed as a percentage of the pulse-top amplitude.

Rise Time
Rise time refers to the time required for a signal to change from a specified low value to a specified high value, usually 10 and 90 percent of pulse-top amplitude (vertical display is linear power).
