   ROHDE & SCHWARZ FSH3.13 (1145.5850.13)   Description / Specification:
ROHDE & SCHWARZ FSH3.13 3 GHz Handheld Spectrum Analyzer w/ Tracking Generator

The R&S FSH3.13 (1145.5850.13) 3 GHz Handheld Spectrum Analyzer is ideal for rapid, high-precision, cost-effective signal investigations. It provides a large number of measurement functions and so can handle anything from the installation or maintenance of a mobile radio base station up to on-site fault location in RF cables as well as development and service – an extensive range of applications. With it's internal tracking generator it can be used for distance-to-fault (DTF) measurements, scalar and vector network analysis, and one-port cable loss measurement. By means of the TDMA POWER function, the FSH3 performs time-domain power measurements within a timeslot of TDMA (time division multiple access) methods. Specifications. Frequency range: 1 kHz to 1 MHz. Resolution: 1 Hz. Counter accuracy: S/N > 25 dB ± (frequency × reference frequency error). Resolution bandwidths: 100 Hz to 1 MHz. Video bandwidths: 10 Hz to 1 MHz. Displayed average noise level: typ. –114 dBm (1 kHz). TOI: typ. 13 dBm. SSB phase noise: <–100 dBc (1 Hz) at 100 kHz from carrier. Detectors: sample, max/min peak, auto peak, RMS. Level measurement uncertainty: <1.5 dB, typ. 0.5 dB. Reference level: –80 dBm to +20 dBm. Interfaces: RS-232-C optical interface. Options. FSH-B1 (1145.5750.02), Distance-to-Fault Measurement. FSH-K1 (1157.3458.02), Remote Control via RS-232-C. FSH-K2 (1157.3387.02), Vector Transmission and Reflection Measurements. FSH-K3 (1157.3429.02), Receiver Mode.

Average Power
Average power means that the energy transfer rate is to be averaged over many periods of the lowest frequency involved. For a CW signal, the lowest frequency and highest frequency are the same, so average power and power are the same. For an amplitude modulated wave, the power must be averaged over many periods of the modulation component of the signal as well.

Harmonic
A harmonic of a wave is a component frequency of the signal that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, i.e. if the fundamental frequency is f, the harmonics have frequencies 2f, 3f, 4f, . . . etc.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.
