TEKTRONIX 7B80 Horizontal Time Base Plug-in

Tektronix 7B80 Horizontal time base designed for use with the 7104 Mainframe to provide optimum bandwidth/ sweep-speed compatibility, but may also be used with the 7700, 7800, and 7900 Series Mainframes. Features: 1 ns/div to 5 s/div Calibrated Time Bases. Triggering to 400 MHz. Variable Trigger Holdoff. Peak-to-Peak Auto Triggering. Sweep Rates - 5 s/div to 10 ns/div in 27 steps (1-2-5 sequence). 10X MAGNIFIER extends fastest calibrated sweep rate to 1 ns div. The uncalibrated VARIABLE is continuous to at least 2.5 times the calibrated sweep. Trace Separation Range - Funclional only in Delta Delay Time mode when alternating or chopping between time-base units. The second delayed sweep display can be vertically positioned at least 3 div below the first delayed sweep display. Delay Time Range - 0.2 or less to at least 9.0 times TIME/ DIV setting. Jitter - 0.02% of TIME/DIV setting + 0.1 ns, or less. External Trigger Input - Max input voltage is 250 V (dc + peak ac) Input R and C is 1 M-Ohm within 5% and 20 pF within 10%. The level range (excluding p-p AUTO) is at least ± 1.5 V in EXT + 1, and at least ±15 V in EXT + 10.

Channel Bandwidth
Channel Bandwidth is the bandwidth over which power is measured. This is usually the bandwidth in which almost all of the power of a signal is contained.

Jitter
Jitter in technical terms is the deviation in or displacement of some aspect of the pulses in a high-frequency digital signal. Jitter is the time variation of a periodic signal in electronics and telecommunications, often in relation to a reference clock source. Jitter may be observed in characteristics such as the frequency of successive pulses, the signal amplitude, or phase of periodic signals. Jitter is a significant, and usually undesired, factor in the design of almost all communications links (e.g., USB, PCI-e, SATA, OC-48). In clock recovery applications it is called timing jitter.

Overshoot
Overshoot is the distortion that follows a major transition; the difference between the peak power point and the pulse-top amplitude computed as a percentage of the pulse-top amplitude.

Rise Time
Rise time refers to the time required for a signal to change from a specified low value to a specified high value, usually 10 and 90 percent of pulse-top amplitude (vertical display is linear power).
