   TEKTRONIX DC510   Description / Specification:
TEKTRONIX DC510 Universal Counter / Timer Plug-in

The Tektronix DC 510 Universal Counter / Timer features reciprocal frequency to 350 MHz, period, ratio, events B during A measurements, and time A to B. The powerful reciprocal technique provides high resolution of low frequency signals much faster than conventional counting techniques. The pseudo-random, phase-modulated time base provides increased accuracy by eliminating synchronous errors in the time interval and width averaging modes. Auto trigger senses the applied signal and sets trigger levels to the optimum points. In the DC 5010, trigger levels, the minimum and maximum signal voltage levels, and the trigger voltage are available over the GPIB, and can be viewed on the 9-digit display. Channel A and Channel B Input; Frequency Range - 50 ohm termination: >0 to >= 350 MHz DC coupled. 100 kHz to >= 350 MHz AC coupled. 1 M-ohm termination > 0 to >= 300 MHz DC coupled. 16 Hz to >= 300 MHz AC coupled. Sensitivity - 50 ohm termination DC: <= 25 mV RMS sinewave to 350 MHz <= 70 mV p-p pulse 1 M-ohm termination. DC/AC <= 25 mV RMS to 200 MHz. 42 mV RMS to 300 MHz. Attenuation Selectable - 1X, 5X. Impedance - 1 M-ohm paralleled by 23 pf ±2.2 pF (10%) or 50 ohm ±3% DC. Dynamic Range - 70 mV p-p to 4 V p-p (x attenuation). Trigger Level Range - >= + 2 V to <= - 2 V with 4 mV resolution (X1). <= ±10 V to <= -10 V with 20 mV resolution (X5). Trigger Level Accuracy - ±1 % of F.S. trigger level range, plus ±2% of reading for a DC input V, ±40 mV X Attenuator. Autotrigger Frequency Range - 10Hz to <= 350 MHz. Independent Controls - Slope, Attenuation 1X / 5X, Couple AC/DC, Impedance 1 M-ohm / 50 ohm. Frequency A Range: <= 36 uHz to >= 350 MHz. Accuracy Resolution: ±(Time Base Error x Frequency A). Rise / fall A Range - 5.0 ns to 7.6 hrs.

Available Gain
Available Gain is the ratio, at a specific frequency, of power available from the output to the power in from the source.

Decibel (dB)
A unit of measurement of power which indicates relative power. A -10 dB means a reduction in power by 10 times, -20 dB means another 10 times or 100 times overall, -30 means another 10 times or 1000 times overall and so on.

Mismatch Uncertainty
Mismatch Uncertainty is caused by re-reflections between one device (the source) and the device that follows it (the load).

Pulse Power
Pulse Power, the energy transfer rate is averaged over the pulse width. Pulse width is considered to be the time between the 50 percent risetime/falltime amplitude points. Pulse power averages out any aberrations in the pulse envelope such as overshoot or ringing.
