   TEKTRONIX FG502   Description / Specification:
TEKTRONIX FG502 Function Generator Plug-In

The Tektronix FG 502 Function Generator provides low-distortion sine, square, and triangle waveforms, and positive or negative ramps and pulses. Output frequency is continuously variable from 0.1 Hz to 11 MHz. The high-frequency range from 1 to 11 MHz permits the versatility of the function generator to be extended into the medium radio frequency range. VCF input permits the FG 502 to be used as a sweep generator or as an FM generator. External-gate input permits the FG 502 output in any of its modes to be controlled by an externally supplied pulse to generate bursts of various output waveforms. The FG 502 is used in wireless or radio remote-control equipment and in certain phases of the telephone industry. Frequency Range with var. symmetry: 0.1 to 11 MHz (1.1 MHz Pulse, Ramp). Dial Accuracy % of full scale: <=3 to 1 MHz, <=5 to 10 MHz. Amplitude open circuit: 10 Vpp. Offset open circuit: ±5 V dc. Peak Signal + Offset open circuit: ±10 V dc. Output Impedance: 50 ohms. Amplitude Flatness 10-kHz ref, 50-ohm load): Sine ±0.5 dB, 20 Hz to 20 kHz; ±1.5 dB, 0.1 Hz to 11 MHz; Triangle ±3 dB ref to Sine Wave; Square ±3 dB ref to Sine Wave. Square-Wave Response: <= 20-ns rise/fall; <=3% p-p aberrations.

*This is a Web introductory price for one calibration of the TEKTRONIX FG502. Price does not in most cases include measurement performance data. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Crest Factor
Crest factor or peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is a measurement of a waveform, calculated from the peak amplitude of the waveform divided by the RMS value of the waveform

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
