   KAELUS IQA-0900C   Description / Specification:
KAELUS IQA-0900C GSM900 Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Analyzer

The Kaelus iQA-0900C Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Analyzer is a feature rich, high power PIM test solution. This field proven analyzer enables network operators to improve site performance by finding and eliminating sources of passive intermodulation at the cell site. The design includes an integrated panel PC with intuitive touch screen interface for performing tests and generating site reports. This version of the IQA-0900C ships from the factory enabled to support Range to Fault (RTF) technology: with the purchase of an optional RTF module, operators are able to activate RTF mode within the iQA user software to accurately measure the distance to return loss faults as well as the distance to PIM faults at the cell site.

Chirp
A change in the optical frequency caused by direct modulation of the laser. A chirp is a signal in which the frequency increases ('up-chirp') or decreases ('down-chirp') with time. In some sources, the term chirp is used interchangeably with sweep signal.

Nanometer (nm)
A unit of measure used to measure wavelength of light, meaning one one-billionth of a meter

Singlemode Fiber
Singlemode Fiber has a small core, only about 9 microns, and is used for telephony and CATV with laser sources at 1300 and 1550 nm. It can go very long distances at very high speeds. Both multimode and singlemode fiber have an outside diameter of 125 microns - about 5 thousandths of an inch - just slightly larger than a human hair.
