ROHDE & SCHWARZ ZVH8 8 GHz Handheld Cable and Antenna Analyzer

The R&S ZVH8 (1309.6800.28) 8 GHz Handheld Cable and Antenna Analyzer, performs fast, reliable and highly accurate measurements. Even in its basic configuration, it detects cable faults, measures the matching of filters and amplifiers and checks the loss of cable connections. The brilliant color display is easy to read even under poor lighting conditions, and it has a monochrome mode for extreme conditions. Options include two-port vector network analysis, vector voltmeter, power measurements or spectrum analysis. Fast data exchange between the R&S ZVH8 and a PC via a USB or LAN connection. Specifications. Frequency range: 100 kHz to 8 GHz. Standard measurement functions: reflection measurement, distance-to-fault measurement, one-port cable loss measurement. Output power (port 1, port 2): 0 dBm to –40 dBm (nominal), in 1 dB steps. Maximum permissible spurious signal level: +17 dBm (nominal). Number of points: 101, 201, 401, 601, 631, 801, 1001, 1201. Average Power
Average power means that the energy transfer rate is to be averaged over many periods of the lowest frequency involved. For a CW signal, the lowest frequency and highest frequency are the same, so average power and power are the same. For an amplitude modulated wave, the power must be averaged over many periods of the modulation component of the signal as well.

Harmonic
A harmonic of a wave is a component frequency of the signal that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, i.e. if the fundamental frequency is f, the harmonics have frequencies 2f, 3f, 4f, . . . etc.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.
