BK PRECISION 4014B 12 MHz DDS Sweep Function Generators

The B&K Precision 4014B is a 12 MHz DDS (direct digital synthesis) function generator that generates stable and precise sine, square, and triangle waveforms. It provides variable output voltages from 0 to 10 Vpp into 50 ohms (up to 20 Vpp into open circuit), linear and logarithmic sweep, AM/FM modulation, built-in counter, and a continuously variable DC offset that allows the output to be injected directly into circuits at the correct bias level. Separate output amplitude and DC offset amplifiers let you set a large DC offset (e.g. ± 4.99 V ) with a small amplitude output signal (e.g. 10 mV). Specifications. Frequency Range: 0.01 Hz to 12 MHz (Sine, Square), 0.01 Hz to 1 MHz (Triangle). Resolution: 6 digits(square wave) or 10 mHz. Accuracy: 0.01% ± 0.006 Hz. Amplitude Range: 10 mVpp to 10 Vpp (into 50 ohms), 20 mVpp to 20 Vpp (open circuit). Amplitude Resolution: 3 digits (1,000 counts). Amplitude Accuracy: ± 2% ± 20 mV of programmed output from 1.01 V – 10 V. Flatness: ± 0.5 dB to 1 MHz, ± 1 dB to 12 MHz. Harmonic Distortion (for sine wave at 5 Vp-p into 50 ohms): < -60 dBc (0 – 1 MHz), <-50 dBc (1 MHz – 5 MHz), <-45 dBc (5 MHz – 12 MHz). Square Rise/Fall Time: <= 20 ns (10% to 90% at full amplitude into 50 ohms). Duty Cycle Square: 20% - 80% to 2 MHz. Duty Cycle Triangle: 1% - 99% in 1% steps, up to 200 kHz. Operating Modes: Continuous, Triggered, Gate, Burst, Trigger Source. Amplitude Modulation Internal: 0.1 Hz – 20 kHz sine only. Frequency Modulation Internal: 0.1 Hz – 20 kHz sine only. Counter Range: 50 Hz to 25 MHz. Counter Resolution: Auto ranging, up to 8 digits. Counter Accuracy ± 0.02% ± 2 digits. Memory Storage: 10 instrument settings.

Available Gain
Available Gain is the ratio, at a specific frequency, of power available from the output to the power in from the source.

Decibel (dB)
A unit of measurement of power which indicates relative power. A -10 dB means a reduction in power by 10 times, -20 dB means another 10 times or 100 times overall, -30 means another 10 times or 1000 times overall and so on.

Mismatch Uncertainty
Mismatch Uncertainty is caused by re-reflections between one device (the source) and the device that follows it (the load).

Pulse Power
Pulse Power, the energy transfer rate is averaged over the pulse width. Pulse width is considered to be the time between the 50 percent risetime/falltime amplitude points. Pulse power averages out any aberrations in the pulse envelope such as overshoot or ringing.
