ANDO AQ-6315B 350 to 1750 nm Optical Spectrum Analyzer

The Ando AQ-6315B optical spectrum analyzer brings advanced capabilities to a wide range of applications, from light source evaluation to measurement of loss wavelength characteristics in optical devices. Features. The monochromator mode can be set to single-pass or double-pass to match your measurement application needs. Provides a dynamic range (stray light level) of 70dB or more ± 1 nm from the peak. This is especially valuable when measuring DFB-LD side-mode suppression ratio. Covers from 350nm to 1750nm and noise level has been suppressed to allows the AQ-6315B to measure light at down to -90dBm. Polarization dependency has been slashed to ± 0.05dB, enabling accurate measurement of optical amplifier gain and other critical measurements. Optical output is provided, can be used as an optical bandpass filter. 9.4-inch color LCD. Specifications. Measurement wavelength range: 350 to 1750 nm. Wavelength span: 0 to 1500 nm. Wavelength accuracy: ±0.5nm (25 ±5°C, 10/125 SM fiber). Wavelength reproducibility: ± 0.005nm (1 minute). Wavelength resolution: 0.05 to 10 nm. Level accuracy: ± 0.3dB (at 633/1310/1550nm). Interface GP-IB.

Absolute Wavelength Accuracy
Absolute Wavelength Accuracy is the maximum difference between the actual wavelength and the displayed wavelength of the Optical Source. Wavelength is defined as wavelength in vacuum.

Decibel (dB)
A unit of measurement of optical power which indicates relative power. A -10 dB means a reduction in power by 10 times, -20 dB means another 10 times or 100 times overall, -30 means another 10 times or 1000 times overall and so on.

Nanometer (nm)
A unit of measure used to measure wavelength of light, meaning one one-billionth of a meter

Relative Intensity Noise (RIN)
Relative intensity noise (RIN), describes the instability in the power level of a laser. The noise term is important to describe lasers used in fiber-optic communication and LIDAR remote sensing. It is the square of the (spectrally resolved) RMS optical power amplitude divided by the measurement bandwidth and the square of the average optical power, expressed in dB/Hz.

Total Return loss
In an optical fiber, the loss that takes place at any discontinuity of refractive index, especially at an air-glass interface such as a fiber endface, at which a fraction of the optical signal is reflected back toward the source. RL = - 10log10 (Preflected/Preference)
