Keysight (Agilent) 5315B Universal Electronic Counter

The HP 5315B is a portable Universal Electronic Counter. The 5315B offers frequency or period measurements to 100 MHz, frequency to 1 GHz optional, 3 time interval measurement modes (single shot time interval to 100 ns, time interval with delay, and time interval average to 10 ps), ratio, 2 totalize modes (manual or electrically controlled), as well as input signal conditioning that is optimized for not only frequency measurements but also for time interval measurements. Additional features of the 5315B include reciprocal counting (high resolution frequency measurements at low frequencies), continuously variable gate time, tri-state trigger lights, and a conservative, low component count design for years of reliable service. The 5315B has a frequency range of 0 to 100MHz (DC coupled) and 30Hz to 100MHz (AC coupled). The 5315B is identical to the 5315A except for the package. The package in the 5315B is a metal System package II for rack mounting.

dBc
dBc (decibels relative to the carrier) is the power ratio of a signal to a carrier signal, expressed in decibels. If the dBc figure is positive, then the relative signal strength is greater than the carrier signal strength. If the dBc figure is negative, then the relative signal strength is less than carrier signal strength.

Load Regulation
Load regulation is the capability to maintain a constant voltage (or current) level on the output channel of a power supply despite changes in the supply's load (such as a change in resistance value connected across the supply output).

Power Linearity
When changing the power level and measuring the differences (in dB) between actual and displayed power levels, the power linearity is ± half the span (in dB) between the maximum and the minimum value of all differences.

Settling Time
Settling time of an output device is the time elapsed from the application of an ideal instantaneous step input to the time at which the amplifier output has entered and remained within a specified error band, usually symmetrical about the final value.
