Optical head. Wavelength Range: 800 nm to 1700 nm. Power Range: +10 dBm to -90 dBm. Uncertainty at reference conditions: ±2.2% (1000 nm to 1630 nm), (± 1.5 % (970 nm to 1630 nm) Calibration option C01 / C02). Linearity (power) at 23°C ±5°C: CW +10 dBm to -70 dBm, 1000 nm to 1630 nm, < ± 0.02 dB. Return loss: typically 60 dB. Noise (peak to peak): < 5 pW. Power Sensor Type: InGaAs, 5mm. Applicable fiber type: Standard SM and MM max 100 µm core size, NA = 0.3. Have to be operated with the single (Agilent 81618A) or dual (Agilent 81619A) Interface Modules.

Variation of insertion loss on the passband of an optical device.

Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL)
Polarization Dependent Loss is the difference between the maximum and minimum values of loss due to the variation of the polarization states of light propagating through a device. PDL is expressed in decibels. Calculated by; PDL = 10 log10 (Ep/Es), where EP and ES are the measured diffraction efficiencies for P- and S-plane polarized incident light, respectively.

Return Loss (RL)
Return Loss (RL) is the ratio of the incident power to the reflected power expressed in dB. RL = 10log (Pin/Pback)

Wavelength Resolution
Wavelength Resolution is the smallest possible displayed wavelength increment/decrement.
