Keysight (Agilent) 86120C   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 86120C Optical Multi-Wavelength Meter

The Agilent 86120C Multi-Wavelength Meter measures the wavelength and optical power of laser light in the 1270 to 1650 wavelength range. Because the Agilent 86120C simultaneously measures multiple laser lines, you can characterize wavelength- division-multiplexed (WDM) systems and the multiple lines of Fabry-Perot lasers. Parameters: Wavelength Specifications; Range: 1270 to 1650. Absolute accuracy (lines separated by >=15 GHz): ±2 ppm (±0.003 nm at 1550 nm and 1310 nm). Differential accuracy (characteristic): ±1 ppm. Minimum resolvable separation (characteristic): 10 GHz (0.08 nm at 1550 nm, 0.06 nm at 1300 nm). Display resolution: 0.001 nm. Amplitude Specifications; Calibration accuracy at calibration wavelengths: ±0.5 dB (at 1310 and 1550 nm ±30 nm). Flatness, ±30 nm from any wavelength: 1270 to 1600 nm (characteristic) ±0.2 dB, 1270 to 1650 nm (characteristic) ±0.5 dB. Linearity, 1270 nm to 1600 nm, lines above -30 dBm: ±0.3 dB. Polarization dependence: 1270 to 1600 nm ±0.5 dB, 1600 to 1650 nm (characteristic) ±1.0 dB. Display resolution: 0.01 dB. Sensitivity Specifications; 1270 to 1600 nm, single line input: -40 dBm. 1600 to 1650 nm, single line input: –30 dBm. 1270 to 1650 nm, multiple lines input (characteristic): 30 dB below total input power, but not less than single line input sensitivity. Selectivity Specifications; Two lines input separated by >= 50 GHz (characteristic): 25 dB. Two lines input separated by >= 15 GHz (characteristic): 10 dB. Input Power: Maximum displayed level (sum of all lines) +10 dBm, Maximum safe input level (sum of all lines) +18 dBm. Maximum Number of Laser Lines Input 200. Input Return Loss; With straight contactconnectors: 35 dB, With angled contact connectors (Option 022): 50 dB. Measurement Cycle Time; Normal update mode (characteristic): 1.0 s (1 measurement-per-second). Signal-to-Noise Ratio (characteristic); channel spacing >= 100 GHz: >35 dB, channel spacing >=50 GHz: >27 dB

Common 86120 Repairable Errors
We have repaired over 1000 86120's with a success rate of over 99% and with most replacement parts in stock. Our typical repair time is less than 5 business days.
The following is a list of common repairable errors (In order of prevalence).
E14 (ERROR 14) "DATA ACQUISITION PROBLEM" or "DATA ACQUISITION ERROR"
We repair the E14 error using NEW, original manufacturer parts, which comes with a one year warranty. We don't use refurbished or cheap generic parts.
E4 (ERROR 4) "MOTOR INDEX PULSE NOT FOUND"
E7 (ERROR 7) "MOTOR NOT SETTLED"
E34 (ERROR 34) "BATTERY FAILED"

*This is a Web introductory price for one calibration of the Keysight (Agilent) 86120C. Price does not in most cases include measurement performance data. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

dBm
Optical power referenced to 1 millimatt

Multimode Fiber
Multimode Fiber has a large core (almost always 62.5 microns - a micron is one one millionth of a meter - but sometimes 50 microns) and is used with LED sources at wavelengths of 850 and 1300 nm for short distance, lower speed networks like LANs. Both multimode and singlemode fiber have an outside diameter of 125 microns - about 5 thousandths of an inch - just slightly larger than a human hair.

Power Repeatability
Power Repeatability is the random uncertainty in reproducing the power level after changing and re-setting the power level. The power repeatability is ± half the span (in dB) between the highest and lowest actual power. Note: - The long-term power repeatability can be obtained by taken the power repeatability and power stability into account.

Refractive Index
The refractive index or index of refraction of a substance is a measure of the speed of light in that substance. It is expressed as a ratio of the speed of light in vacuum relative to that in the considered medium. The velocity at which light travels in vacuum is a physical constant, and the fastest speed at which energy or information can be transferred. However, light travels slower through any given material, or medium, that is not vacuum.

Total insertion loss
A measure of the loss of light within an optical component
