Keysight (Agilent) 8662A   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 8662A 1280 MHz Synthesized Signal Generator

The HP 8662A derives exceptional RF performance from an indirect frequency synthesis technique that results in frequency resolution of 0.1 Hz from 10kHz to 640 MHz and 0.2 Hz from 640 MHz to 1280 MHz. Output level accuracy is held to ± 1 dB using microprocessor correction. This makes the HP 8662A an ideal generator for performing precise receiver sensitivity tests either manually or in automated systems. The HP 8662A offers versatile phase-locked AM/FM using either internal 400 Hz and I kHz rates or externally applied modulating signals, which can be either dc or ac coupled. Several different modes of simultaneous modulation (such as AM + FM or FM + FM) are possible. Fast frequency switching combined with microprocessor control gives the HP 8662A a powerful sweep capability. Automatic, single, and manual modes are available for both linear and logarithmic sweeps with user-selectable step size and number of steps. Specifications. Frequency Range: 10 kHz to 1280 MHz (1279.9999998 MHz).. Frequency resolution of 0.1Hz from 10kHz to 640MHz and 0.2Hz from 640MHz to 1280MHz. Output is available from +13 to -139.9 dBm with output level accuracy held to ±1 dB using microprocessor correction. Versatile phase-locked AM/FM using either internal 400Hz and 1kHz rates or externally applied modulating signals, which can be either DC or AC coupled. <420 microsecond frequency switching speed, <-144 dBc/Hz SSB phase noise at 10 kHz offset. Opt 001 RF connectors on rear panel only, Opt 003 Specified SSB phase noise for 640 MHz output.

Carrier Wave (CW)
Carrier Wave or Continuous Wave is a sinusoidal signal without modulation.

Harmonic
A harmonic of a wave is a component frequency of the signal that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, i.e. if the fundamental frequency is f, the harmonics have frequencies 2f, 3f, 4f, . . . etc.

Noise Floor
Noise floor is the measure of the signal created from the sum of all the noise sources and unwanted signals within a measurement system.

Ripple
Ripple is the small unwanted residual periodic variation of the direct current (dc) output
