Keysight (Agilent) 8665B   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 8665B 6.0 GHz Synthesized Signal Generator

The HP 8665B RF Signal Generator is for high-performance applications up to 6.0 GHz, particularly radar, telemetry and spurious testing of UHF receivers. FM rates of up to 2 MHz and deviations to 20 MHz peak are suitable for many applications such as higher-rate digital communications. An optional pulse modulator with on/off ratio of > 80 dB and rise/fall times of < 5 ns is available. Pulse width and delay can be internally adjusted between 50 ns and 999 ms, eliminating the need for an external pulse generator. Specifications. Frequency Range: 0.1 to 6000 MHz. Resolution: 0.01 Hz. Accuracy: Timebase stability x fc. Switching speed (typical): < 100 ms (Option 004). SSB phase noise @ 1 GHz (20 kHz offset): –117 dBc/Hz, –134 dBc/Hz (Option 004). Output LevelRange: + 13 to –139.9 dBm, + 9 dBm (Option 008). Resolution: 0.1 dB. Absolute accuracy: ± 1 dB, output >= –119.9 dBm 1 to 1000 MHz; ± 1.5 dB, output >= –119.9 dBm, 1000 to 3000 MHz. Interface: GPIB (IEEE 488.2-1987). Options. 001, High-Stability Timebase. 002, 2 GHz Doubled Output. 004, Low-Noise Option. 005, Electronic Attenuator (N/A with Option 002). 008, Pulse Modulation. 009, Specified VOR/ILS2. 011, 2 GHz Internal Frequency Counter. 003, Rear-Panel Input/Output. 010, Reduced-Leakage Configuration.

Averaging
Averaging is a mathematical process to reduce the variation in a measurement by summing the data points from multiple measurements and dividing by the number of points summed.

Fall Time
Fall time is the time required for the amplitude of a pulse to decrease (fall) from a specified value (usually 90 percent of the peak value exclusive of overshoot or undershoot) to another specified value (usually 10 percent of the maximum value exclusive of overshoot or undershoot).

Noise Density
Noise Density is the amount of noise within a defined bandwidth, usually normalized to 1 Hz.

Resolution Bandwidth (RBW)
Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) is the minimum bandwidth over which you can separate two signals and still see them.
